Servers for Destiny 2, as well as the first Destiny, went offline today as part of scheduled maintenance, but a snafu occurred in Destiny 2 forcing Bungie to extend downtime twice.
Update 3: Destiny 2 server maintenance has completed. Note, you may encounter the Destiny server queue when attempting to sign in due to everyone trying to sign-in at once.
When Bungie posts the patch notes on the hotfix we’ll provide the information in a separate post.
According to the latest update from Bungie on the gauntlet situation, the in-game imagery has been changed and a later update will address menu view.
This imagery has been removed from the shared game world. It will be removed from inspections and icons in a HotFix planned for next week. https://t.co/Mom6ZGiSMa

Update 1: Bungie has extended Destiny 2’s maintenance which was was set to end at 2pm ET, 7pm BST. It has now been extended to 3pm ET/ 8pm BST.
A hotfix will be released for PS4 and Xbox One and will go live after the maintenance period. Details on the hotfix aren’t known at present, but it’s hoped the Nightfall bug with the Prism modifier will be fixed.
Also, there is another issue: one of the gauntlets in Destiny 2 “shares elements with a hate symbol.” Bungie said this was unintentional, and it is working to fix it right now.
2/2 Our deepest apologies. This does NOT represent our values, and we are working quickly to correct this. We renounce hate in all forms.

Bungie didn’t elaborate on which gauntlet features the offending symbol, but some sleuthing by folks over on the Destiny subreddit, believe it’s the Road Complex AA1. Apparently, the symbol’s design is similar to that of the “Kekistani” flag used by neo-nazi groups.
So, expect a re-skin of the gauntlets to appear in-game soon.
Destiny server maintenance has been extended by one hour. Expected completion is now 12 PM PDT. Please stay tuned for more updates.

When servers go back online and hotfix information is provided, we will let you know. Original post follows.
Original post
Bungie announced the downtime for both games today. This is the first maintenance for the recently released Destiny 2, and it’s going to last for four hours all told.
The maintenance is scheduled to start at 7am PT, 10am ET, 3pm BST, 4pm CEST today. After it begins, you will no longer be able to log in. However, players who are in the game at the time will be given a notice.
One hour later, at 8am PT, 11am ET, 4pm BST, 5pm CEST, all players will be removed from activities in both games. Everything should return to normal at 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm BST, 8pm CEST.
Although this mainly affects the games themselves, functionality on Bungie’s website, and the mobile app, may also suffer from unavailability during the maintenance.
If you’re running into issues playing the game, have a look at the Destiny 2 error codes to see if what you’re running into is a common problem. Bungie also previously outlined a list of known issues it’s currently tracking.
